It’s important to be aware of whether you’re breathing polluted and potentially dangerous air, for your health and those around you. We recommend you check the air quality in your area using the website addresspollution.org a website that uses reliable data from Imperial College London for the UK. Air pollution is has negative health outcomes for everyone, but especially the most vulnerable like the elderly and pregnant.
Once you’re at addresspollution.org enter the postcode for the address you want, and then navigate to your address. All information is public and you can check anywhere in the UK. For this example we have used 10 Downing Street.
On the left hand side of the screen you will be shown the national percentile for air quality the location falls into. In the case of 10 Downing Street, it’s in the 97% percentile, being particularly bad but not unexpected as it’s at the busy heart of London.
On the left hand side of the screen click the levels and health effects button to be given a detailed breakdown of the pollutants. It will show you the exact levels and whether they are in breach of W.H.O limits, and the health detriments that can bring.
Contact us to request a free consultation where we will discuss your air quality and what we’d recommend to fix it. Ensuring proper ventilation, avoiding use of gas-cookers and other polluting appliances and more steps are important to reducing pollution where you live, but ultimately only Air Purifiers are able to keep you air adequately clean.
